In my opinion, all the real wonders of the world, albeit manmade, can do away with this silly debate. I, for one, feel a monument like Taj Mahal needs no certificates. People the world over know what it is, what it signifies, and will continue to believe so. Taj doesn't need some silly maveric's crown!

Whipping up mass hysteria is not going to help. Merely getting a few lakh extra votes for Taj Mahal does not mean we have inscribed its name in eternity even as its marble rots away.

There is a far more serious need to protect Taj Mahal from environmental and man-made degradation. If even a fraction of this national attention and resources can be diverted to saving it, Taj Mahal would be eternally grateful to this generation of "aware" but gullible souls who even as you read this are busy SMSing their votes away, making Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Essars of the world richer!

Pollution, or should one say cleaning of Yamuna, is only one example of what we should be doing, but are not doing. This really is where Taj Mahal requires a lot of support from each one of us, not just from Agrawallas.
